"Ratso" a bronze artist, is a proud Pacific Northwest resident. He appreciates the great outdoors, and all the wildlife it has to offer.

Ratso is mostly self-taught, and specializes in a realistic-style sculpture. Ratso began sculpting in his early 40s, and was thrilled to find an art medium that allowed so much detail -- he loves the details!

He will frequently make his own tools to achieve a desired texture or detail, and will stop at nothing until he does! With some classes and guidance from artists, and others in the field of art, he was encouraged to market even his earliest sculptures.

Before sculpting, his creative endeavors included acrylic landscape painting and woodworking. Many people ask about the name "Ratso"--it was derived from his family name and later became his art name.

Ratso seeks to bring the awareness of wildlife into our homes, offices, gardens, and public areas. As we go about our busy lives, Ratso hopes his sculptures will provide a way to remind us of those creatures we would not likely see while racing through our daily routine. Ultimately, he wants everyone to experience that magical moment, when you believe -- if only for an instant -- that you are in their world, and they are in yours.

Ratso looks forward to sculpting many new wildlife pieces (as well as other subjects) for years to come. He also welcomes the challenge of doing commissioned and monument works.
